Erlanger History

History buffs should make a stop at some of the historical homes that still remain in the city. The area now known as Erlanger was first settled in the early 1800s. A man named Bartlett Graves built a cabin and a large settlement followed after the Covington-Lexington Turnpike was constructed. To honor William Timberlake, a local resident, the town was first known under the name Timberlake. It quickly grew and became home to businesses and homes and was officially incorporated under the name Erlanger in 1897. After I-75 was established, the town saw rapid growth and became home to several subdivisions and large industrial companies.

Erlanger Parks

Erlanger is home to several parks that will allow you to spend time outdoors with your family and friends. Flagship Park provides fun for all ages with its playground equipment, swings, and climbing wall. A volleyball court and walking trails are also located within the park to satisfy those looking for sporting activities. If you are just looking to relax, take in the fishing pond or have a picnic on one of the open grassy areas. Every year the city of Erlanger holds a festival to honor to history and cultural roots of the area.
