Delectable Delicious Delights

As much fun as I’m having talking about renting an apartment in Endwell, I think it’s time to move on to more important matters. You guessed it! FOOD. So what’s on the menu for Endwell, NY? Burgers. Try a juicy burger at Galley Bar and Grill on 409 Hooper Road. Or travel on down to Binghamton for breakfast or a homemade pie at the Plaza Diner at 3605 Vestal Pky E.

Speaking of Beatnik Binghamton

Students will love the beatnik cafés in Binghamton. Check out the Lost Dog Café at 222 Water Street for a funky fantastic cup-o-joe. Don’t forget to check out the Lost Dog’s event calendar. For example (warning: the coolness factor of Endwell is about to go up a million points, so you might want to sit down for this one) every month the Lost Dog hosts a FREE SCIENCE CABERET! Okayokayokayokay, maybe not everyone is as pumped (yes, I used the word pumped) about a science cabaret but I mean, come on! You have to admit that is at least a little awesome! You get to sip on coffee while listening to a lecture on black holes. Nuff said. Endwell is cool.

Adventure and playtime

If your kids are weird and are not excited by café Scientique at the Lost Dog, you can always take them to Endwell’s famous Highland Park where they can play all day and ride the carousel. Your family will love the annual Fourth of July celebration at Highland where the whole community gathers for the fireworks display. Your kids can also get involved in Endwell’s athletic programs. Did you know that Endwell’s New York State Little League was named Champions of 2007, and the New York State A High School baseball team won the championship title in 2008? Gooooo Endwell! Try out the golf courses at Endwell Greens or Binghamton Country Clubs. Don’t forget the endless activities downtown Binghamton has to offer, such as concert halls, theatres, sporting events, dance/ballet companies, and best of all first Friday art walk, where you can turn your nose up and admire some fine art in the many galleries Binghamton houses.

What About the Schools

When looking to rent an apartment in a new place the first question asked is usually, “What about the schools?” Luckily, the school system is yet another reason why your kid’s future in Endwell will (dare me to say it) end well. According to a study conducted by Business First, Main-Endwell Central School District ranks in the top 10% of schools in Upstate New York when it comes to academic performance. The district not only aims for academic excellence, but also to develop your child’s leadership skills. Kids in Endwell are also welcome to attend schools in the neighboring Union-Endicott Central School District, which offers a wonderful selection of schools with outstanding academic, athletic and arts programs. Get your Freak On

There’s no doubt that Endwell is a great place for families, but let’s not forget that things will end equally well for those singletons and young adults looking to have a good time. Barnaby’s Pub at 21010 E. Main St. will hit the spot with some cold beer and an excellent meal on the side. Speaking of beer, on Thursday nights venture on over to Binghamton to Sport’s Bar at 85 State St. for their weekly beer pong tournaments. While in Binghamton, meet the gay community and visit Merlin’s gay bar at 201 State St.

All this talk of things ending well in Endwell, has convinced me that it is time for me to end this article (well).

  • Is Endwell a good place for younger people?

Endwell is a hamlet located in the Town of Union in Broome County, New York. Despite its small size, Endwell is full of young, educated people in their 20s and 30s, making it a great choice for younger people seeking others their own age in a quiet community. The presence of young professionals could be due in part to Endwell's proximity to Ithaca, which is home to two notable institutions of higher learning: Cornell University and Ithaca College. In addition, compared to the rest of the country, the cost of living in Endwell is 6 percent lower than the US average, a factor that may be appealing to cost-conscious younger folk.
