The Elmhurst Historical Museum makes sure that Elmhurst locals are educated about their town's history. The museum has been in operation since 1957, operating out of several different historic buildings before moving to its current location in the Glos Mansion. The museum engages with the public via a series of educational exhibits as well as programs aimed at school-age children. The museum offers research services for academics interested in the history of Elmhurst. The museum has received a number of awards, such as the Illinois Association of Museums Superior Award and the American Association of Museums First Place Award, among others.
