South Arkansas Arbore

The South Arkansas Arboretum is an interesting venue in that it is the only state park located in Arkansas that is within the confines of a city. Nevertheless, this 13-acre venue is a great place to experience the beauty that nature has to offer. In addition to the arboretum and the magnificent trees on display, there is also a botanical garden to marvel. Here you will find all kinds of plant life found in the area called the West Gulf Coastal Plain region of Arkansas. The venue also features miles of paved pathways that allow visitors to move about comfortably.

Arkansas Museum of Na

The Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources is a bit different that the usual fare found in most museums. Here you will find exhibits that detail the history how the discovery of oil played a part in the town's past. There is even operable exploration equipment on display in the adjacent Oil Field Park. Exhibits include replicas of what El Dorado was like during the boom years of the 1920s, as well as how oil formed a whopping 200 million years ago. This venue offers a hands-on educational experience enjoyed by both young and old.

South Arkansas Arts C

The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) exists solely for the promotion of the arts. Located in a rather larger facility, visitors will find such areas as a ballet studio, three art galleries, and a spacious theater. The center produces numerous stage performances each year, as well as plays host to touring art exhibition shows from across the country. Dedicated to art and performing appreciation, it makes concerted efforts to present a host of eclectic offerings for the residents of El Dorado and beyond. SAAC is a non-profit organization, which lends credibility to its artistic efforts.
