Living It Up In Your Okie Apartment

So Edmond, what do you have to say for yourself? You're a suburb of Oklahoma's biggest city? And that is, in fact, Oklahoma City? Well isn't that special.

All snarkiness aside, it's a curious thing to note that the city of Edmond literally sprang up overnight, back during the Oklahoma land run of April, 1889. If you've seen the movie Far and Away, then you've got a sense of just what this scenario might look like. Or rather, ""mighta looked like,"" adjusting for proper Oklahoma enunciation. Since those early, heady days Edmond has made its mark as a suburb worthy of the prestigious title of ""Perfect Suburb"" by CNBC. Or at least one perfect suburb among ten. It's also come in for special recommendation by Relocate America. That's no small potaters. In fact it's big potaters.

Embark on your own Oklahoma land run, at least virtually, by perusing our Apartment Guide to score crucial info pertaining to all things Edmond. Utilize LocalTalk to go deeper, and don't forget to take advantage of the ""Ask a Question"" feature to get personalized answers to all your inquiries from area experts.

Edmond Apartments Prices For You And Yours

As in you and your wallet. Though in this day and age it'd be more accurate to say you and your translucent credit card. But whatever your method of payment, there's little it wont' be able to obtain by way of super cool apartment abodes in this central Sooner State city.

Contrary to popular belief, numbers do in fact lie. But we don't.

Get started on your Edmond apartment search by selecting some of the rentals listed below. Some are sure to strike your fancy. Check out our rental and census data tables as well as our other fact sheets for more info about affordability and options for your future new digs.  In fact if you strike hard enough, you may just turn up some black gold.

In The Beginning...There Was Edmond

At the beginning of the 1890s anyway, after which time an economical and strategically located train station had become, well, so much more than that (fighting back tears...), and a budding place of residence for so many, for so many years to come. Named after Edmond Burdick, a freight train agent whose claim to fame would be somewhat realized in the sixth largest city in the state of Oklahoma, today Edmond is a special place for those with a special taste for suburban accommodations. Having garnered more praise from the likes of CNBC than you can shoot an arrowhead through, this city of over 80,000 surely leaves something to be desired. The problem? Nobody knows what it is.

What's earned Edmond so awesome a reputation, at least as determined by people who are paid to make such determinations (a pretty important qualifier, we'd submit)? Well that'd have to be the city's impressive stats, which include a median income of some figure over the national average (something approximating 70k+), and an impressive list of top employers. Edmond even goes to bat for residents looking to match themselves with said employers. Well, more like residents looking to work for the city, but hey, that's ok too.

Edmond likes to tout its being the first to do, build, or offer fill-in-the-blank. For example, it was the first to construct a church in Okie Territory. Now, considering it's a church we're talking about, it'd be proper to use its ""church"" name: Oklahoma Territory (tipping hat at passing M'am). Another novelty Edmond can claim for itself would be the proper education of the kiddies. As of August 1889 Edmond officially welcomed the unwashed little rascals to its schoolhouse doors. Life from that point on would never be the same...

Or maybe it would. We just wanted to end on a dramatic note.

You're Never Done With Edmond's Food And Fun

So, the Boulevard Steak House comes in for praise by the reviewers-that-be circulating throughout the Edmond area. One patron especially liked the waiters, giving the restaurant a ""Best Ever"" badge based on this feature alone. See, now that's why bus boys, much to their chagrin, don't make the big fat bookoo bucks.

Now that you're belly is up to snuff with the good stuff, why not take in a rousing game of bowling at Boulevard Bowl? (Bowling just barely qualifies as a physical activity, so give your stomach a moment to rest.) We know, ""Boulevard Bowl"" isn't the most creative of names, but in all fairness it really is on a boulevard. Knock down pins with the best (and worst) of them, and enjoy some chicken tenders or nachos while you're at it. We like to have a pint or two of the dark and light ourselves, but we can't be certain this heartland state venue offers such an opportunity, for good or ill.

Other ways of killing time include the open air environs of Aracadia Lake and the city's lengthy list of parks. So there's all that too.

What are you waiting for, a permission slip? Enjoy!
