Dog Parks

Eden Prairie is a community for dog lovers, with six off-leash, city dog parks, including five seasonal locations and the year-round Flying Cloud Dog Park. Two dog parks are ice hockey rinks that are re-purposed during the warmer months of the year to provide canine companions outdoor exercise. The Ruff House, a privately owned and operated indoor, off-leash doggy playground, also helps ensure Eden Prairie's pooches never want for exercise regardless of the weather. Two miles of dog-friendly trails and a 9-acre dog park can also be found just northwest of the city at Bryant Lake Regional Park.

Community Gardens

The city of Eden Prairie's Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a unique community gardening program that has been in continuous operation since 1976. The program has inspired other Minnesota communities to follow suit. Through cooperative efforts, community gardeners spruce up the city's green spaces from late May to mid-October each year. Small, medium, and large plots are rented seasonally in two locations, and the city plows, stakes, and otherwise prepares the plots in addition to providing water for crop maintenance while gardeners are responsible for all other activities. Many of these plots are maintained by civic organizations and social clubs.
