Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Named because its founder found it so beautiful, Eden Prairie is a suburb of Minneaplis-St. Paul and has a population of just under 55,000 people. Its situation 12 miles from the two larger cities makes it not only a great residential suburb but it is also home to many communication and technology businesses.

When you start the search for your Eden Prairie apartment, know that the area is very car dependent and while there is some public transportation to neighboring towns, you'll very much need a car for commuting to work and having access to both cultural and recreational activities. Money Magazine lists it as one of the ten best places to live in the United States.

Lots of Water

Since Eden Prairie is composed of a large number of lakes and ponds, there's ample opportunity for almost any water related sport. The city also maintains 170 miles of multi-use trails, and boasts over 2200 acres of open space and parklands. Culturally, Eden Prairie is dependent on nearby world class venues in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, and even closer, the small town of Chanhassen has both a dinner theatre and a performing arts venue. There are several good golf courses and plenty of good shopping and movie theatres.

Prairie Style Deli

Your Eden Prairie apartment will no doubt be close to some wonderful, locally owned restaurants as well as some surprising chain places. Wildfire is attached to a mall and is part of a chain but the minute you walk in, you know it is different. Fantastic old style atmosphere and some of the best steaks in the region. The Redstone Grill doubles as diner food by day and a great place for dinner with two distinctly different styles too.Baker's Ribs is a great place to try out the local barbecue flavor, and Pastrami Jack's is one fantastic NY style deli.

Dancing at Santorini

For a live music venue, checkout Santorini Tavern. Even if you don't like their music selections, the place will be packed and loads of fun. Champp's and Ruby Tuesday's are good sports bar even if they are chain places, and you'll meet alot of your new neighbors there. There are plenty of little neighbor corner bars which may be closer to your Eden Prairie apartment, and for big nights out the Twin Cities offer just about anything you'd want. Eden Prairie is its own type of Eden!
