What's up in East Meadow

There are some excellent places to get outside in and around East Meadow, the best of the bunch being, Eisenhower Park. The park invites residents to come out and play with its great variety of activities offered. The park covers over 900-acres of open space for loads of outdoor fun. Swim, walk or jog the trails, picnic, or play on the many athletic fields and courts. There is oodles and oodles to do here. There is even a batting cage with nine batting areas to go and smack out the day's frustrations. Come to the park's Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre for some outdoor entertainment throughout the summer. Golfers can enjoy a miniature golf course as well as several public 18-hole courses right in Eisenhower Park. More importantly, an amazing place is inside the park: Safety Town. This place is awesome. It's basically a miniature town where kids (and kids-at-heart) can go to learn all about... you guessed it. Safety. But it is actually fun. Kids go through the town in little electric cars. Pretty dang awe-some. If you're looking for a beach for your outdoor play, you will not have to go far. Jones Beach is a short 12 miles away. The beach offers plenty of sand for your enjoyment as well as the awesome Jones Beach theater for outdoor concerts all summer long.

The students of East Meadow are educated through the East Meadow School District. The district was formed in 1814 and is made up of nine schools. There are about 7,400 students currently enrolled.
