Dedicate Yourself to Dover
If you decide to devote yourself to Dover, you'll probably find the loyalty goes both ways. Especially with a smaller city like this one, because it really, really needs you to stay. Indeed, we were surprised to learn that this capital of Delaware has fewer than 40,000 residents. That's surely a rarity for a state capital, no? We challenge you to prove us wrong on this question. Find a place smaller and maybe we'll give you a t-shirt or a coffee mug. Or something else equally cliched. Check out our website for tips and whatnot on discovering your new apartment in Dover. Details on working and playing in this east coast locale can be gleaned from a visit to MyNewPlace. Here you can chat with those in the know, take advantage of the "Ask a Question" feature to get custom feedback to all your inquiries, and maybe even hit it off with an established "Doverian."
Dover Apartment Figures: Watch Them
So we bet you think this is the biggest city in Delaware. Wrong! It's Wilmington actually, but Dover comes in second. But then maybe you weren't thinking about Delaware at all, much less which city in Delaware is the biggest. In that case we apologize for our overzealous outburst. But wait, if that's the case, why are you here on this page of our esteemed website looking for an apartment to rent? Oh you.
Get it together!
The 36,000 residents (as of the 2010 census) enjoy the city's ample amenities, something a lot of places with an even larger head count don't enjoy. In fact too many to count. You’ll also find there are always the easy getaways of the ocean, the Chesapeake Bay, and assorted big cities in every direction except east. To the east is over 31 million square feet of salt water. This is a city built mostly by those that declare a city a city in the first place: the government. With the state a major employer both at the local and federal levels, the latter taken up primarily by Dover Air Force Base, Dover has an undoubtedly strong government presence. But other employers include Kraft Foods, Procter and Gamble, and loads of other smaller businesses. And even here, when it comes to putting your entrepreneurial concept into practice, the state of Delaware has got your back. The city spends more on its students than the nation at large, and there are about 15 students per teacher. Plus it’s served by three public high schools and the state's only historically black institution of higher learning, Delaware State University. So come and get it! "It" being Dover, duh.
Seek and Ye Shall Find Fun in Dover
Do you like music? Do you like art? Heck, we may as well just ask if want to find a new apartment. Assuming the answer is in the affirmative, we think you'll quite enjoy the local Schwartz Center for the Arts. The Dover Symphony Orchestra is the resident DJ, as it were, and in addition to the harmonics on offer from that talented outfit, you can also take in theatre. Local schools also rent the place for their various esteem building - er, highly talented - performances. Rounding out our foray into the cultural sector is the Ballet Theatre of Dover. If you've seen Black Swan you'll no doubt want to witness those taut young performers onscreen do their thing on stage too. Unfortunately, Natalie Portman won't be in attendance for the live action performance. Yes, Dover's got it goin' on in ways you may not have expected. So now that you're accustomed to expecting the unexpected, make haste and get yourself over here! """
