About Desoto, TX
A suburb of the much larger city of Dallas, DeSoto was first settled in 1847, with the National Civic League naming DeSoto an “All-American City” in 2006. Though the city’s downtown is bustling with businesses and other activities, residents get away from the urban life and enjoy the peace that nature offers by visiting one of its scenic areas such as the Historic Nance Farm. With a diverse population and a host of amenities, DeSoto has plenty to offer residents both old and new.

DeSoto Parks

With 21 parks in the area, DeSoto has plenty to offer in the way of outdoor activities. While some parks like Ernie Roberts Park and Kiva Park are designed to accommodate children with their various playgrounds, others will keep the whole family satisfied. Meadowcreek Park will delight the sports enthusiast by offering three football fields, a practice football field, and picnic facilities. The Roy Orr Trail will take you on a walk where you can enjoy the beauty that nature provides. The trail crosses through many of the city’s parks and has four park stations along the way.

Dinner is Served

There is never a lack of fine dining options in DeSoto. With restaurants covering nearly every ethnicity of food, you can find all of your favorites any day of the week. For an evening out without the kids, but with a quiet, romantic dinner, stop in at Tuscany Bistro Italian Cuisine. The savory food will delight the taste buds and wine complements your entrees. If you are in the mood for traditional seafood, a visit to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen should be in order. From crab legs to fresh lobster, Pappadeaux carries your favorite catch.

The Corner Theater

The 185-seat auditorium has state-of-the-art lighting and sound capabilities, making the theater engaging in all different aspects. A variety of performances are held throughout the year at this location including plays, musicals, mystery dinners, and concerts. The venue is also home of various professional and local theater companies like the African American Repertory Theater and the CrossOver Theater Company.
