It is hard not to get into the American spirit when celebrating the Fourth of July at Decatur's Spirit of America Festival. This two-day outdoor festival is the one of the largest of its kind in the south, and best of all, it is completely free of charge. Families are welcome to come and enjoy the variety of summer activities offered. Many awards are also given at the event, such as the Barrett C. Shelton Award, the Audie Murphy Patriotism Award, and the Miss Point Mallard title. Make sure to stay to the end of the night for North Alabama's largest aerial fireworks display.
