Does Dallas have a downtown area where a lot of people walk around?
Yes. Dallas has a charming downtown that features a few restaurants, stores, a coffee shop, and a courthouse. However, since Dallas is a small town, the area isn't too large. The Fox Theater shows movies year-round. A Farmers' Market runs from June through August on the courthouse lawn and features growers, producers, and artisans from the Polk County area of Oregon.

Public education is primarily provided by the Dallas School District. This district's eight schools serving over 3,300 students include Lyle Elementary, Oakdale Heights Elementary, Whitworth Elementary, LaCreole Middle School, Dallas High School, and Morrison Alternative. Rated better than 57.4 percent of school districts in Oregon and 41.4 percent of school districts in the country, the Dallas School District is above average at the state level but below average at the national level. There are also several private schools in the area.
