Covington Historic Di

When looking for a place to shop, dine, and walk amongst history, you can find them in Covington's historic district. This district includes the downtown area, as well as Floyd Street and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Covington's downtown district developed around central Square Park and today this park is used for many concerts and other community events. For those looking for a day of shopping, you can start from the center of the city, where you can find many of Covington's finest specialty shops, as well as local restaurants with a southern flair.

Ghost Hunting at Gait

In the early 1800s, Gaither's Plantation was a functioning cotton plantation that spanned across hundreds of acres. Today, there remains a myth that some of the Gaither family members, as well as soldiers from the Civil War, haunt the home. Those feeling intrigued at the thought of encountering a ghost can take a guided tour by the Central Georgia and East Georgia Paranormal Societies. These ghost tours are held each October and take families through the house, explaining the history behind the buildings, as well as any supernatural activity that has occurred. Maybe if you are lucky, you will experience paranormal activity yourself.
