Corpus Christi, Texas

Corpus Christi is a Texas Gulf coast town and has a population of 286,000 people.Port town, military town, tourist haven, and fine weather all combine to make it a very livable city. The older areas near the water are more walkable than the outer suburbs so consider that you will need a car once you've got your Corpus Christi apartment sorted out.

There are a number of districts and island areas within Corpus Christi, and each one has a distinctive flavor. You'll find different cultures too like the Hispanic one, surfers, cowboys and military. It makes for an exciting place to live.

The Islands, The Islands

The locals enjoy the same destinations that tourists arrive for. Mustang and Padre Islands all house state or national parks and seashores, and provide an enormous amount of outdoor recreational activity from fishing to boating to surfing to hunting. Deep sea fishing excursions are a must for anyone with the slightest interest in catching the proverbial ‘big one'. The arts are well represented with places like South Texas Institute for the Arts, Harbor Playhouse Theatre, and the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens and Nature Center which is as great for learning as for strolling around in.

Stars of Texas

With the Gulf at its front door, seafood is certainly one of the top dishes on Corpus Christi menus but there's also excellent Mexican, steak and international cuisines to choose from as well. Katz 21 is well known for its steaks as is the Republic of TexasBar and Grill. Located on the 20th floor of the Omni Hotel, the views of the water are amazing at sunset. Or if you prefer simpler, try Hester's where everything is always fresh and they serve breakfast all day long. Your Corpus Christi apartment and your new neighborhood will offer plenty of exploring of both mom and pop places as well as upscale ones.

Swanky Tapas

Nightlife in Corpus Christi is just as varied. You might want to start at the Havana Clubwhich is pretty swanky for a tapas bar but they have either a great dj or live music every night of the week. Cassidy's Irish Pub offers a more down to earth experience but is just as much fun too. There are a number of neighborhood bars that offer up live music of all types so go exploring as soon as you are settled in your Corpus Christi apartment.

Corpus Christi, Texas is Texas at its best.
