Carrollton and its population of 124,000 are located just to the north of Dallas, and is considered a Dallas suburb. Originally settled by the English, Carrollton has a long history in agriculture, railroading, and industry. Today, it is primarily a convenient residential area. When you start the search for your Carrollton apartment, know that the area is very car dependent. You will find city buses and DART transit into Dallas however.
Carrollton is a very friendly environment, and is consistently listed in many ‘best places to live' publications. The old downtown square has been maintained and a gazebo still sits there. Surrounding the square are businesses and restaurants all in restored buildings. The charm of the area attracts both locals and tourists. When the weather is hot, people head to Sandy Lake Park where there are swimming pools, an amusement park and plenty of shade trees for beating the heat. Carrollton also has plenty of biking trails and excellent golf courses too.
Once settled into your Carrollton apartment, you'll want to check out one of the town's favorite restaurants. Babe's Chicken Dinner House is an institution. Very inexpensive prices get you a huge dinner with so many side dishes, there's no way to go home hungry. For Mexican food, there's El Paisa Cocina Mexicana which is an old fashioned style place serving up great food. Make a reservation at Amici. It's a five course menu, and you bring your own bottle. Fantastic food from one of Carrollton's nicest chefs. The town also has plenty of ethnic cuisines available, and this is one town where you can't go hungry!
At night when it is time to get out and about, try Agave Azul Mexican Kitchen - Tequila Bar to start. Of course, the tequilas are popular but they make a mean martini too.Casa Vieja is a restaurant but they offer great tango and boleros music for dancing.Carson's Live is a night club just on the Carrollton-Dallas border, and if you would rather dance than talk, this is the place for you. Great sound system, great drinks and they stay open late!
Your Carrollton apartment will make it easy whether you hang out in the neighborhood or make the very easy trip into Dallas.

It might not be famous, but Carrollton is home to one museum of note. The A.W. Perry Homestead Museum offers a glimpse of life as it was in north central Texas at the turn of the 20th century. Built in two iterations, first by the original homesteaders, A.W. and Sarah (Huffman) Perry, in 1857, and then rebuilt by their son Dewitt Perry and his wife Francis (Grimes) in 1909, you can still see the foundation stones of the first Perry farmhouse in the backyard of the structure that now serves as the museum. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to noon and again from 1 pm to 5 pm.
