Located in Sacramento County, Carmichael has a population of almost 50,000 people, and is a city full of tree lined streets, older architecture and a good lifestyle. When beginning the search for your Carmichael apartment, know that it is a very walkable city.You will probably want a car for commuting and being able to access the local environs however.
Parks, Parks and More Parks
Carmichael offers over 200 acres of parklands, and maintains over 16 parks with all sorts of recreational facilities provided. The Ancil Hoffman Park is one of the largest and even offers an 18 hour golf course. You'll also want to check out the nature park and the botanical garden once settled into your Carmichael apartment. The Chautauqua Playhouse is only 95 seats but presents large productions and plays. The proximity to Sacramento also means that you will have many more choices for both performing arts and other cultural venues.
The Orange Freeze
The Waffle Barn is a great place to start your day. From biscuits and gravy to waffles, this place gets high ratings from all the locals, and the first time you go there, they make you feel like a regular. Aldaberto's is a California Mexican chain but the location in Carmichael is the best one, and has a 24 hour drive through too. The burritos are as good as you get whether you're eating in the car or in their dining room. The Original Hagen Orange Freeze is great for burgers or for their classic freeze (no relation to Haagen Daz either). It gets hot in Carmichael and their drink does the trick. For upscale dining without upscale prices, checkout Tavano's Napoli Ristorante for fantastic Italian food! Your Carmichael apartment won't be far from good restaurants, but these are all a good place to start your own list of favorites.
When the sun goes down, people go out in Carmichael. For cool evenings, there's the Luna Lounge which is very friendly with a very mixed crowd of young professionals, neighborhood residents and even students. The Cedar Room is a good dive bar that serves free popcorn - great when you're on a budget! Capri and Johnny's Club 53 both offer live music on weekends, and you don't want to miss swing night at the Capri. It's fun to watch even if you don't dance.

What kinds of outdoor activities are either in or around Carmichael?
With a wide array of of outdoor havens, Carmichael is a true nature lovers paradise. Bordered by the American River, the local Ancil Hoffman Park is nearly 400 acres of sprawling, oak-canopied greenspace, home to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and the Ancil Hoffman Golf Course. The town's Carmichael Park is a 38-acre park with five ballfields, six tennis courts, and a community clubhouse, as well as a performing arts pavilion and the Great Wall of Carmichael. Situated on Fair Oaks Boulevard, Jensen Botanical Gardens feature a beautiful variety of flora including camellias, dogwoods, azaleas, and rhododendrons. The American River Parkway is a 23-mile long parkway that runs along the American River throughout the county, with many smaller parks and boat launching points along the way.

Carmichael does not host any major sporting events of its own, but Sacramento is just a quick 20-minute drive outside of town, with a slew of professional sports teams and venues to satisfy any sports lover. Sacramento's ARCO Arena is home to the NBA Sacramento Kings. The AAA Minor League affiliates of the Oakland Athletics, the Sacramento River Cats, play their home games at the local Raley Field. Sacramento is also home to an assortment of smaller-scale sports teams including the Sacramento Capitals tennis team, the Sacremento Knights soccer team, and the ABA Sacramento Heatwave basketball team, amongst others.

Like much of coastal southern California, the climate of Carmichael features mostly mild weather year-round. Temperatures in summer tend to be in the 70s and temperatures in winter months tend to be in the 50s. The warmest month of the year is July with an average high temperature of 94 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is December with an average low temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Just shy of 20 inches of precipitation falls in Carmichael each year, most of it occuring in the winter months.
