Parks, Parks, and Mor

Carmichael offers over 200 acres of parkland and maintains over 16 parks with a host of recreational facilities provided. Ancil Hoffman Park is one of the largest and even offers an 18-hole golf course. Once you have travelled the town, pay a visit the nature park and botanical gardens for an afternoon full of natural wonders. The Chautauqua Playhouse has only 95 seats, but presents large productions and plays for the theater enthusiasts. The proximity to the capital city of Sacramento means there are many more choices for both performing arts and other cultural venues.

Food and Fun

The Waffle Barn is a great place to start a day. From biscuits and gravy to fresh made waffles, this place gets high ratings from all the locals. Aldaberto's is a California Mexican chain, but the location in Carmichael is deemed one of the best, featuring a 24-hour drive-thru for all-hour convenience. The burritos are as good as you get whether you're eating in the car or in their dining room. The Original Hagen Orange Freeze is great for burgers or for their classic freeze. For upscale dining without upscale prices, checkout Tavano's Napoli Ristorante for fantastic Italian food.

Nights on the Town

When the sun goes down, people go out in Carmichael. For cool evenings, pay a visit to the Luna Lounge with its friendly mixed crowd of young professionals, neighborhood residents and even students. The Cedar Room is a good dive bar that serves free popcorn, which is great when you are on a budget. Capri and Johnny's Club 53 both offer live music on weekends, and you don't want to miss swing night at the Capri with good old fashioned 1940s dancing. It is fun to watch even if you don't dance.
