About Bloomington, MN
Bloomington might not strike you as a nationally famous city to begin with, but they are known for one thing that is known the world over. Many people have heard of it, and consider it either the height or depth of American culture, but in this sleepy little suburban town is the largest indoor shopping mall in the entire country. This is where the Mall of America calls Bloomington its home, and for good reasons. Incomes are high, and many major corporations are headquartered here.

America's Biggest Mal

The pinnacle of mall shopping is right here in the heart of Bloomington. With an indoor roller coaster, hundreds of stores and restaurants, 12,000 employees, and more than 40 million visitors annually, this is one behemoth of a shopping center. Just to give you some contrast, the nearby Twin Cities area only gets 18 million visitors a year. On a busy weekend, the mall becomes one of the largest cities in the entire state. You can easily burn a weekend just wandering around this place. Make sure you do not get lost by using Google’s innovative indoor mapping feature.

National Wildlife Ref

Located just south of the city is a massive 11,000-acre wildlife preserve called the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. It is one of only four refuges in the country, and also claims the title of being the largest. Go for a day and soak up nature’s beauty on any number of walking and hiking trails. Get the kids to burn off all that excess energy from the sweets they scarfed down at the Mall of America, or take a date out there for a nice relaxing stroll in the evening. It really is a beautiful piece of nature right in your own backyard.
