A Pretty Little Town Full of Surprises

Renting an apartment in Bloomfield puts you in a part of the country with breathtaking natural sights, like the Tariffville Gorge overlooking a rushing river, and the Metacomet Ridge, a ridge line that stretches from Long Island Sound nearly all the way to the Vermont border and makes up Bloomfield’s northern border. Needless to say, Bloomfield is a great place to rent an apartment if you love the out of doors. Spectacular scenery isn’t all Bloomfield has to offer, though. As far as apartment renting goes, you’ve got plenty to choose from, and they’re all in a town with more charm than Rhett Butler. You’d be surprised who else has called Bloomfield home. Professional heavyweight boxer Lawrence Clay Bey was born in town, and NBA hall-of-famer K.C. Jones is a current resident. Two U.S. Representatives hailed from Bloomfield, and it was the birthplace of actress Susan Hecht. Check out the LocalTalk page to hear from current residents why Bloomfield is an ideal place to rent an apartment.

What’s the Buzz in Bloomfield

The natural sights and charm aren’t all Bloomfield have going for it. It boasts some pretty competitive prices for renting an apartment as well. Because it’s small and off the beaten path, it’s not the first place everyone looks when they’re moving to Connecticut. You can find a choice apartment at a reasonable price, and you won’t have to outbid droves of other candidates to get it. Whatever you’ve got your heart set on, you can find the perfect place at the perfect price.

Breathtaking Bloomfield

As I mentioned, one of Bloomfield’s best features is the gorgeous topography that you can view just by stepping out of your apartment. Most of the town is surrounded by trees, and many outlying areas are open space preserves meant to protect Connecticut’s lush array of flora and fauna. Penwood State Park is a local stop where the outdoor enthusiast can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, the reds and oranges of the trees, and activities to keep your heart rate going. This 787 acre park is located on Talcott Mountain, a traprock mountain ridge with microclimate ecosystems, rare plants, and stellar views from towering cliff walls. Heublein Tower was built there after food and beverage magnate Gilbert Hublein promised his fiance a castle, and now provides panoramic views of the surrounding skyline.

Once you drink in all the beauty the local scenery provides, hit the trails in Penwood for a Connecticut hiking experience. There are also plenty of paved roads accessible by bike. The park is also a great place for picnicking, with designated shelters, and in the winter offers a wonderland for cross-country skiing.

Another park nearby is American Legion and Peoples State Forests. This park offers seven “Blue Blazed” hiking trails, along with all kinds of outdoor activities. There is freshwater fishing, canoeing, and kayaking on the river, and when the snow falls you can hop on a snow mobile or strap on the cross country skis. The park has trails for hiking and biking, camping facilities for overnight tent stays, and field sports facilities for those with a competitive nature. You’ll certainly have your outdoor itch scratched if you choose to rent in Bloomfield.

Hometown Business

If you rent an apartment in Bloomfield, you’ll get the chance to patronize some of the charming local businesses the town has to offer. The Wintonbury Coffee House is a 20-year-old local institution that’s more than just your typical java joint. They showcase the talents of local artists and musicians while serving up delicious joe. Sit back, relax, listen, and sip while lilting melodies and bodacious blues lines sweep you into a melodic meditation. After a long week at work, take a break at Milano’s Salon and Day Spa. They offer facials, waxing, massage, and nail services, and will send you off feeling pretty and pampered. Afterward, stop off for a snack at Oy Vey Bagel Cafe. Enjoy one of their 21 flavors of delicious bagels or a signature panini, all local favorites. It’s establishments like these that make renting an apartment in Bloomfield an experience full of character and appeal.
