Cultural Experience

The best way to experience the culture and community spirit in Blacksburg is to attend one of its annual events. The International Street Fair & Parade takes place in April each year and it is home to craft booths, stage performances, and more. You can also check out the Steppin Out festival in August, featuring over 150 artists and craftsman from all over the world. Browse the selection of handmade items or take in one of the live performances during the event. Enjoy the food vendors and engage in some friendly running competitions as well.

Caboose Park

For an epic outdoor experience, make a stop at Caboose Park. The park is made up of several sections in order to accommodate visitors of all ages. One section, called Hand-in-Hand, is designed for the younger crowd complete with a castle and tire swings. Right in the middle of the park sits a caboose that offers a unique touch to the area. Sport fields and picnic areas are also located within the park for some friendly competition and a meal to energize you. Spend the day playing or just relax and soak up the sun at this fabulous park.

Jammin' Out

If you enjoy listening to good music, take the time to stop by the Blackburg’s Market Square Jam, held every week during the warmer months. Located at the Farmer’s Market on Draper Road, the musical event features old time and bluegrass music performed by local and regional artists. If you are feeling the vibe, you can also join in and play at the event to help make some wonderful music. Bring a chair or a blanket and sit back and enjoy the show. You can also take lessons from some of the performers.
