Monrovian was founded in 1742 and is the sixth oldest college in the nation. The college also includes the Moravian Theological Seminary.

    Located along the Lehigh River 50 miles north of Philadelphia and 70 miles west of New York City, Bethlehem is part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area. Bethlehem is also home to two institutions of higher learning: Lehigh University and Moravian College. Since Bethlehem's climate features four distinct seasons--with hot, humid summers, mild springs and falls, and cold winters--residents should be able to tolerate both extremes.

    There are many good places for dining out in Bethlehem. The highest concentration of restaurants occurs in downtown Bethlehem at the intersection of Broad St and Main St. Options in this area include Italian restaurants and pizza parlors, seafood, and fondue, as well as many American food options accomodating a wide range of budgets from fast food to fine dining. Another area with many restaurants is just north of Lehigh University, which tends to have more low-cost and ethnic eateries.

    Bethlehem's climate is part of the humid continental climate zone. This means that summers are generally hot and humid, fall and spring are normally mild, and winter is cold. Temperatures can be as low as 19 degrees Fahrenheit in January to 84 degrees Fahrenheit in July. Bethlehem receives about 45 inches of precipitation annually. Its is distributed throughout the year and mostly falls as thunderstorms in summer, rain showers in spring and fall, and snow in winter.
