World's Largest Laund

It may be an odd claim to fame, but the people of Berwyn are proud to say that their city is home to one of the world’s largest Laundromats. With more than 160 washers, 140 dryers, a bird sanctuary, free pizza Wednesdays, and a kids’ play area, you can actually have fun while your laundry washed and dried. They are also known for the way they heat their water for the washing machines. The Laundromat uses a large solar thermal heating system to provide hot water to all the washers on the premise, which is a wonderful green alternative.

A Thriving Arts Scene

While it may not have quite the depth and quantity of its bigger neighbor Chicago, Berwyn is still home to a thriving arts scene with professional theater, local musical performances, an arts council, and many local productions on any given week. It is definitely much more affordable for the starving artist and creator, and still active enough to provide a healthy scene for those looking to be plugged into local groups. Check out a show at the professional equity theater, or go listen to an up and coming band perform on Thursday nights to get a taste of what this town is all about.
