About Bentonville, AR
While Bentonville has garnered recognition as the home of Walmart's corporate headquarters, this fact does not typify this tranquil town in the least. With a modest population of 38,000 residents, Bentonville harbors characteristics that epitomize small town America at its best. Located in the far northwest corner of Arkansas, Bentonville is the 10th largest city in the state and a localized beehive of social and business activity. Those who call Bentonville home appreciate its old town charm combined with its many modern amenities.

The Beauty of Compton

If you enjoy the scenery and peacefulness that communing with nature provides, then the Compton Gardens is a must-visit location. The Gardens cover about six acres, featuring pristine woodlands and scenic prairie. With plenty of walking trails, you will be able to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends or on your own. Many visitors utilize the facility areas for large events like reunions and even business meetings. Touring and enjoying the Gardens is convenient with its location only about a block from the busy downtown area. Biking and walking are equally and easily accommodated here.

The Walmart Museum

Sam Walton probably never envisioned the retail empire that would eventually spring from the humble beginnings of the variety store located in downtown Bentonville that is now home to the Walmart Museum. Dedicated to telling the history of the world's largest retail chain, the Wal-Mmart Museum is fittingly located in the original storefront that began it all. Inside, visitors learn how Walmart became...well, Walmart. Static exhibits and engaging interactive activities get visitors involved in the storytelling process. You will not have to journey very far for refreshments either, as the on-site Spark Cafe is available for a quick meal or snack.

Visting the Crystal B

Many would not expect to find the works of such artists as Gilbert Stuart and Asher Durand on display in a museum in a city the size of Bentonville. However, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is an exception. This contemporary institution of art covers over 100 acres, featuring a range of American artistic styles. Renowned works of art are part of its permanent collection and the museum regularly features collections on tour from other major museums across the country. The museum is proudly displays works from Thomas Eakins, Thomas Benton, and Andy Warhol, to name a few.
