The Philadelphia Park Racetrack is a thoroughbred horseracing track that has been open since 1974. Its PARX Casino has 250,000 square feet of gambling fun including gaming, entertainment, and space for banquets and bashes. One of the track’s claims to fame is that it was the original home of 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes champion Smarty Jones. (He placed second in the Belmont Stakes.)

The Mongkoltepmunee Buddhist Temple is a replica of a temple in Bangkok and the only one of its kind in the United States. Buddhists came to the area from Thailand in the 1980s and here they can meditate and do Buddhist-like things.

Factoid time. Commit the following to memory to impress your friends and enemies: M. Night Shyamalan’s movie “Signs” built a stage inside a warehouse in Bensalem. Find your apartment and you can constantly wonder: “I wonder if Mel Gibson was here.” The Neshaminy Mall, built in 1968, is infamous for being one of the first malls in the country. Maybe the person who coined “Shop til you drop,” first shopped in Neshaminy?

    Established in November 1974, the Philadelphia Race Track is a one-mile thoroughbred horse racing track, located right in Bensalem. Home to the two-weekend Pennsylvania Derby event each September, the track is known for being the original home of the 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness champion- Smarty Jones. In 2006, a slots parlor casino was also added to the site.
