Brainy Belmont

The city is home to two colleges. Belmont Abbey College, a private liberal arts college, and Gaston Community College. Belmont Abbey College was founded in 1913 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a private liberal arts college that is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
