This small, picturesque, lakeside town in Michigan is less than 20 miles from Ann Arbor and roughly 30 miles from Detroit. Belleville sits on 2 square miles of land and Belleville Lake is 6 miles long. The lake was created by damming up the Huron River, which feeds Lake Erie. Interesting tidbit: it is known as the “birthplace of techno music." Although your new apartment does not guarantee a techno-blasting neighbor.

In Good Company
With its gorgeous lake and charming downtown, Belleville can feel like a real getaway. And it’s no surprise. In the 1930s the city boasted some famously wealthy summer visitors. Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh are among some of the lucky guys who owned summer cottages on Belleville Lake. Not bad company to be in!
Belleville has more than just great apartments. The city is full of boisterous, life-loving people and they sure do like throwing festivals. Throughout the year residents partake in the fun and festivities of events like the Taste of Belleville, free music in the park, holiday celebrations, and the big one: The National Strawberry Festival. This one has everything you could want in a festival and more. They have live music and entertainment, a parade, a carnival, games, a beer tent, a children’s area, and of course, tons of strawberries! Vendors sell crafts and goods like strawberry jam, strawberry shortcakes, and strawberry pie. Yum. Plus, you might get the chance to see a guy dressed as a giant strawberry. Done. Right? The point of the festival is to promote the strawberry crops. So for three days every year they turn the town into a “strawberry wonderland.” People from all over Michigan trek out to experience this “berry” fun event. (Sorry. But it is berry fun.)
