Outdoor Destinations

In addition to being one of the city's defining natural features, Lake Belleville is one of the area's best outdoor destinations, offering endless activities for residents and visitors alike. From tranquil sunset viewing at lakeside Horizon Park, to community gatherings at historic Doane's Landing, to boating and sport fishing on the lake, area residents enjoy the rewards of lakeside living. Walk along the shores in downtown Belleville, or head out to the east side's Village Park for a rustic hike, a relaxing walk around the pond, a volleyball match, or a round of golf. The outdoors beacon in beautiful Belleville.

Yankee Air Museum and

Aviation enthusiasts descend by the thousands each year for the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show. The local Yankee Air Museum's bombers participate in this annual event, filling the skies of the Belleville area with the roaring engines of World War II aircraft. Although the museum lost several of its bombers and other artifacts to a fire in 2005, the contemporary facilities and exhibits are still among the best in the state. You can even book a flight in a vintage B-17 if you are willing and able to part with the cash, or use the free flight simulator to get your kicks instead.
