Crack the Books in Be

Bedford's schools, especially its high school, are particularly strong in the area of competitive sports. There are a total of 10 elementary schools and 3 middle schools that serve the Bedford area. Bedford North Lawrence High School has strong basketball and golf programs and it has produced top-performing college athletes such as Indiana basketball All Star Cole Sinclair. Bedford North Lawrence's female athletes are not to be left out, as the girls' basketball team won the 2013 state title. The boys' golf team runs second in regional placement and PGA Tour pro Craig Bowden is a testament to the strength of the team.

A Christian Faith-Bas

Christian faith-based principles of community living are strong in Bedford, but they are not limited to one denomination only. There are Baptist, Mormon, and Catholic houses of worship in Bedford, as well as several others, for greater choices and wider appeal. The St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, which was established in 1893, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Some churches, such as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) and Life Point Church, take as their central faith-based practice educating others about their mission and message. Others, such as Community Baptist Fellowship, create a sense of faith and community through charity work.

Spring Mill State Par

As the "limestone capital of the world," Bedford has many natural quarries full of the light gray matter, which is termed throughout southern Indiana, "Bedford Oolitic Limestone." This makes for great, science-oriented exploring with your family or your friends. The nearby Spring Mill State Park shows natural cave and sinkhole formations that have formed out of this limestone and here, there is also the Donaldson Woods Nature Preserve for a nice walk or hike and a boat tour of one of the major caves--Twin Caves, to be exact. If you are you a camper, there are also 188 Class A sites at the park.
