Fort Totten Park

History buffs will appreciate the well-preserved area in the northern area of Bayside known as Fort Totten Park. Originally used during the Civil War, the original buildings and surrounding areas have been well maintained for people to enjoy year round. Many residents visit the park during the summer months to canoe or swim near the Long Island Sound. During the fall, the area transforms for Halloween for visits to the haunted house located in the Old Water Battery. For those looking for something more peaceful, the park serves as the final resting spot for hundreds of birds before heading south for the winter.

Bell Boulevard

Most popular towns have their own road where the all the residents and tourists gather to enjoy the local cuisine and nightlife. The long stretch of road that is Bell Boulevard is that place for Bayside. The buildings are reminiscent of the old buildings of yesteryear, all joined together and adding to the historic charm of the suburb. The street is home to many bars and restaurants that cater to most people's tastes. While there are many establishments that change hands frequently, there are some that have been around for years.
