One of the last drive-ins in San Bernardino County, Skyline Drive-In is a throwback to 1950s and 1960s Americana where people used to take their sweetheart out for a date and a movie and never leave the car. It is a classical cinema experience, and still retains the nostalgia and enjoyment of the old days, but with new feature films. There is a small diner nearby if you want to grab a burger and fries, and on opening night for big premiere productions, it is typically a packed lot with locals and tourists from all over.
If the city is getting a little claustrophobic, look no further than the nearby Rainbow Basin area for some outdoor adventures. Due to some unique geology and landscape, the basin has some gorgeous natural features that sculpt the rocks and cliffs into beautiful and odd formations. It is fantastic for day hiking and overnight camping if you really want to get away from it all. It is a geologist’s wet dream to wander around the striated rock formations and see the effects of millions of years of natural history all unfold in the layers of rock before them.
