Between the Seneca River and the Eerie Canal lies a little island in downtown Baldwinsville. This land is known as Paper Mill Island, and has become a local hot spot since the addition of the Budweiser Amphitheater in 2000. Now locally known simply as the Paper Mill Island Amphitheater, this huge concert venue really heats up with the weather in summer. Throughout June, July, and August, crowds gather here for a variety of concerts and festivals. From local jazz bands to big name rock stars, there is always something going on at the Paper Mill all summer long.
One of Baldwinsville's largest events is the annual Oktoberfest. Just like the real one that takes place in Munich, Baldwinsville's Oktoberfest is held each September. It is a huge community celebration, serving as the perfect place for friends and neighbors to gather. The festival features tons of live music and, of course, delicious German food. Oktoberfest is held in the village municipal square in downtown Baldwinsville. So, put on your Lederhosen, grab a pretzel, and have a blast at the Baldwinsville Oktoberfest. Also, all funds from the festival will go to local organizations, so you will be supporting your community while still having fun.
Along the southwest shore of the Seneca River lies Baldwinsville's beautiful Community Park. It is just about a half mile down shore from Lock 24, offering beautiful views of this river that runs through the center of town. Community Park is also a fun place to spend a day outdoors, with playgrounds, picnic areas, charcoal grills, and a large covered pavilion. There are also several ball fields that local softball leagues play on. This all makes it an ideal place to spend an afternoon with the family. This park is also popular for fisherman, as it has its own boat launch site.
