Astoria is a neighborhood of 150,000 on the northwestern edge of New York City’s Queens Borough. Its location makes it perfect for visiting or commuting to Manhattan; it’s just an easy trip across the Triborough or Hells Gate Bridge.
Getting Around in Astoria, NY

Astoria has all the transit options that you would expect from a Queens neighborhood. Not only is Astoria surrounded by I-278 and I-495, but the subway and bus services of the MTA service the area as well, connecting residents to the rest of Queens and beyond. For local adventures, walking is absolutely the way to go. Astoria is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in NYC as most daily activities can be accomplished on foot. Of course, biking is always an option as well. For travels abroad, JFK and LaGuardia are well within reach.

American Museum of the Moving Image

<p>The American Museum of the Moving Image has been described as the Mecca for movie aficionados. &nbsp;The museum itself will show you what they mean with a mind-boggling collection of artifacts, screenings, exhibits, interactive experiences, and educational programs. There's everything to see from cameras to costumes, production documents to original storyboards. What's fun is that it is also interactive and offers things to do such as dubbing a movie sequence or creating a stop-motion clip you can send via e-mail. It isn't far from the subway and under an hour ride from NYC. Admission is only $12 regularly and Free on Fridays from 4 to 8.</p>

Astoria Park

<p>Relax in the lush green grass, after exercising in one of the many facilities, and enjoy the magnificent view of the New York skyline from where? Astoria Park in Queens! That's right! People travel from all parts of New York City to rest on the benches along this beautiful park year-round and enjoy the sights and sounds while sitting on the edge of the East River between the Triborough Bridge and the Hell Gate Bridge. Although widely known for its amazing pool (the oldest and largest in New York and one that has trained Olympic swimmers), the park offers so much more. It hosts numerous citywide events, concerts, dances and performances. Just a short ride from the Big Apple puts you into a whole other world.</p>
