"Arlington: Tennessee’s Best Kept Secret
Arlington, Tennessee, has been a quiet, rural town for over two centuries now. There are only around 11,000 people who live here, and while that's a large enough population to provide you with plenty of choices when it comes to making new friends, it's hardly a crowd. Wondering how Arlington got its name? In 1883, Captain Henry Pitman visited the national cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, and found the place so beautiful and inspiring that he brought the name home with him as a souvenir.

Back in the 1830s, this little corner of Tennessee was known as Haysville. It was named after the area's first settler, a landowner by the name of Samuel Jackson Hays, who also happened to be the nephew of President Andrew Jackson. Thanks to the Memphis & Ohio Railroad and the creation of the Withe Depot, Arlington quickly grew into a thriving community. By 1856, 200 people lived in town. Okay, that's hardly a ""thriving community"" by today's standards, but back in the 1800s, Arlington was quite the boomtown. Today, there are around 11,500 people who live here.
If you're the adventurous type who enjoys shooting your friends with beads of paint (hey, it's all in good fun!), Arlington is the place to be. Whether you've never played paintball before or you're a seasoned paintball general with hundreds of battles under your belt, head down to Memphis Paintball and get ready to have a great time. This is one of the best parks around, and has forests, obstacles, canyons, and even mock alien invasions. The park is broken up into a few different courses, including Mega Pipes, Jungle, Bridges of War, and Paintball Canyon. Gear up and get ready to play!
A Day in the City
People move to Arlington in order to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but that doesn't mean that a visit to the big city isn't a hoot and a holler. There are dozens of small and large venues where you can catch your favorite internationally-known musicians and local up-and-comers that you've never heard of. This city isn't only about the music, though; it's also about art, culture, sports, food, and nightlife. Whatever your scene, you'll love hanging out in Memphis. This city is also a great place for a staycation. You'll deserve one after unpacking all those boxes!
What about NASCAR?
Arlington is a small, quiet town with one huge, noisy neighbor! That's right, Memphis Motorsports Park, home to NASCAR races and crowds of 35,000 cheering fans, is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. You'll love catching all the exciting races and fun-filled special events at the track. Don't worry about the noise, though; you're new apartment in Arlington will be well out of earshot!

Is Arlington a good place for younger people?
With a population of about 115,000, which is up from 2000's 2,500, Arlington is the second fastest growing city in Tennessee. Despite its burgeoning nature, however, Arlington remains relatively quiet, which means it might not be the best place for younger people seeking other younger people, or any semblance of a nightlife. As a whole, the population density is fairly low, and few college students, renters, and young children number among its residents. In fact, a full 36 percent of Arlington's population falls between the ages of 35 and 54, while another 15 percent is above the age of 54 and 26 percent is under the age of 18. That leaves just 23 percent between the ages of 18 and 34.
