The Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, both in Nashville, reflect Nashville’s distinctly country flavor. The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly Saturday night country music radio program broadcast live on Nashville’s WSM radio since 1928 and televised on the Great American Country network. It is the oldest continuous radio program in the nation! Make sure to visit the Grand Ole Opry House, the Grand Ole Opry Hotel, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Tennessee has its own Parthenon, an authentic replica of the ancient Greek temple. The Parthenon stands proudly as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville's premier urban park. The re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece; both the building and the Athena statue are full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals. The Parthenon also serves as an art museum, whose permanent collection is a group of 63 paintings by 19th and 20th century American artists.
The Nashville State Fairgrounds includes the famous Music City Motor Speedway, one of the oldest tracks in the nation, and features Nascar and Busch Racing Series events.

Nashville has it all when it comes to dining. Cabana’s extensive menu runs from hamburgers to haute cuisine and an extensive list of beers and other alcohol, while Fat Mo’s Burgers has been the place for burgers, regular size to gigantic, since 1991. Dalt’s Classic American Grill has malts, shakes, and comfort foods. Mambu is more upscale with a menu that features shrimp dumplings, Asian dipping sauce calamari, Brazilian seafood stew and Moroccan salmon. For Italian, try Valentino’s Ristorante, an old converted house with two dining rooms and a bar on the split-level.
NASHVILLE NIGHTLIFE
There’s more than country music happening in Nashville’s nightlife scene. At 12 & Porter there is rock’n’roll and more – a showplace for local bands. The End has hosted everyone from REM to the White Stripes as well as local and indie acts. The stage dominates half the room, with seating off to one side. Rcktwn was founded by Christian music superstar Michael W. Smith and it features rock, metal, and progressive bands. Check out the 3rd & Lindsley Bar & Grill or Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar for great food and live music. The Stage on Broadway is a giant honky tonk where you can hear country at its best. If the dance floor is full, head upstairs to the balcony for a great view of all the action.
