ABOUT PITTSBURGH & PITTSBURGH APARTMENT RENTALS

Pittsburgh is ranked high in livability surveys with its low cost of living, economic and cultural opportunities, education, and transportation.

PITTSBURGH ATTRACTIONS

The three rivers -- the Allegheny, Mononghahela and Ohio Rivers -- that convene in Pittsburgh are actually a vast watershed of more than a dozen unique creeks and river systems that include more than 30,000 miles of rivers and streams extending into New York and West Virginia.  Pittsburgh’s many attractions start along the water, where people come to wine and dine, enjoy the view, and go boating in the water.

There’s plenty of land activity, too.  The Three Rivers Heritage Trail is a pedestrian trail and greenway system around Pittsburgh.  Running for 37 miles along both sides of the three rivers, it is an almost complete public route for cyclists, walkers, runners, and rollerbladers.

Pittsburgh abounds with cultural opportunities -- music, theater, opera, dance, and more.  Try the Pittsburgh Opera, City Theatre, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, or the Carnegie Museum of Art.

PITTSBURGH DINING

Pittsburgh’s dining has it all from casual to upscale.  For a casual night out, try The Original Hot Dog Shop or Mineo's Pizza House.  Cafe Zinho offers roast garlic and tomato bisque with dill, and shrimp cake with toasted macadamia nuts, coconut milk, lime and Dijon mustard sauce.  Soba Lounge offers dishes like crispy kimchi and vegetarian dumplings with a roasted red pepper dipping sauce.  Lu Lu's Noodles is the place for good Asian food, with uncommon dishes like Japanese gyoza and tom kha kai soup.  The Carlton has received numerous awards for its fine dining plates of prime meats, fresh seafood, and veal and pasta, and is an excellent value to boot.

PITTSBURGH NIGHTLIFE

You can find nightlife for any taste in Pittsburgh.  Try Coolpepper's Hothouse to catch up and coming cover bands for heavy metal, rock, punk, ska, and more.  The Lava Lounge is eclectic, featuring a vaudeville-style revue on Mondays, house music on Tuesdays, live alternative bands on Wednesdays, acid jazz on Thursdays and funk and disco throw downs on the weekends. Get there early for a good seat!  The Smiling Moose offers a jukebox during the week and live bands on weekends.  The Real Luck Café draws a young crowd to the bar downstairs and an older crowd upstairs to the dance floor.
