ABOUT MINNEAPOLIS & MINNEAPOLIS APARTMENT RENTALS

Minneapolis, the “Land of a Thousand Lakes,” is a premiere American city, with famous architecture, theaters, museums, shopping, and, of course, its numerous lakes, rivers, and streams.

MINNEAPOLIS ATTRACTIONS

Minneapolis is remaking its skyline with new and innovative architecture.  One of its main attractions is its famous skyway system which links 64 square blocks of buildings downtown, shielding its residents from Minnesota’s famously cold winters.

Visit the Guthrie Theater for new and classical works from diverse cultures.  Minneapolis also boasts a variety of fine museums, including the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and the Frederick R. Weisman Museum, connected to the University of Minnesota.

Or visit the nearby Mall Of America, the largest mall in North America, which is essentially a city unto itself.  Under one giant roof you can find hotels, restaurants, shopping, rides, and more.

Minneapolis’s cold winters and lakes make the city a mecca for winter sports lovers – enjoy skating, sledding, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing.  In the summer, enjoy the ten day Minneapolis Aquatennial, an annual festival celebrating the region’s bodies of water with numerous events -- a triathlon, beach volleyball, sand castle building, parades, fireworks, and more.

DINING IN MINNEAPOLIS

You can start your Minneapolis dining experience at Basil’s on the Skyway level of the IDS building downtown. Here you can combine good food with cultural nostalgia – this is where Mary Tyler Moore’s famous character, Mary Richards, ate dinner at the beginning of each episode of the “Mary Tyler Moore Show.”  On the ground floor of the IDS Building is the Mission American Kitchen which offers American comfort food.  Masa is a popular upscale Mexican restaurant.  For something a bit more casual, try A& J’s Fish, Chicken and Pizza, or Brothers Bar & Grill, the home of the $2.95 burger.

MINNEAPOLIS NIGHTLIFE

The city that gave birth to Prince has no shortage of things to do after dark.  The Cabooze features live acts from progressive rock, to rockabilly, to hip hop.  For DJ beats, there’s Ground Zero or Barfly, and the Conga Latin Bistro has salsa music.  The Hubert Humphrey Metrodome downtown and the Target Center host large concerts with big name stars.
