ABOUT TUCSON & TUCSON APARTMENT RENTALS

Find Tucson where desert plains meet mountains for a uniquely western feel – and also the film shooting location for numerous western Hollywood movies.  Tucson is also the home of the University of Arizona and the only city in the nation to host three Major League Baseball spring training teams: the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Chicago White Sox, and the Colorado Rockies.

TUCSON ATTRACTIONS

Tucson is situated in the Sonoran Desert and is surrounded by five minor mountain ranges: the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Tortolita Mountains to the north; the Rincon Mountains to the east; the Santa Rita Mountains to the south; and the Tucson Mountains to the west.  The Tucson Mountains include Wasson Peak, which stands 4,687 feet tall.  Hiking, biking, skiing…. find it all in the mountain ranges which border Tucson.  Play golf or go swimming, two other favorite past-times of desert life in Tucson.

Tucson has a strong arts community which includes the Arizona Theatre Company, the Invisible Theatre, the Gaslight Theatre, and more.  Musical groups include the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Arizona Opera Company.  Many Mariachi musicians and singers live in Tucson, and the International Mariachi Conference occurs there annually.  Tucson is also the home of a small independent music scene.

Tucson has a number of festivals, including the two week Gem & Mineral Show held in February; the Tucson Folk Festival held every May; and the Tucson Meet Yourself in October, which presents the faces of Tucson’s many ethnic groups through singing, dancing, and artwork.

TUCSON DINING

Tucson has many fine restaurants to satisfy your appetite.  Fronimo’s Greek café offers tabbouleh-bulghur wheat, parsley, onions, tomatoes and cucumbers diced together and an Athenian chicken plate spiced with lemon, oregano and garlic.  Luke’s Italian beef offers huge portions of beef, onions, and peppers in a bun.  El Charro Café is the oldest Mexican restaurant in continuous operation by the same family and is rated one of the top 50 Mexican restaurants in the United States by USA Today.  Anthony’s in the Catalinas is famous for its 1,600-item wine cellar.  Try their lamb Wellington or the Chateaubriand.  The Grill at Hacienda del Sol offers dishes like fresh lobster, prawns and sea scallops in a tangy, chipotle-spiced broth and mesquite-grilled steak.

TUCSON NIGHTLIFE

Listen to retro tunes and lounge acts while reclining amidst lava lamps, velvet curtains, mirror balls, and black velvet paintings at the Shelter.  Club Congress books original, cutting-edge bands a couple of nights a week, while several eras of dance music fill the floor on other nights.  Gentle Ben’s Brewing Company draws the university crowd.  Plush features local and touring rockabilly, rock and lounge acts, as well as a good selection of gins and vodkas.  The DV* Nightclub is a cavernous club with two bars, a spacious two-tiered dance floor, and a wide array of music.
