Smoky beef brisket sandwiches and homemade banana pudding are two of the favorites here along with the usual ribs, chicken, and other delights.  For upscale Italian food, try the popular Patamia.  Logan Tavern, a neighborhood restaurant and bar, combines great food, reasonable prices, and a happening atmosphere.  The Equinox serves regional and seasonal cuisine from the Chesapeake Bay region and local Virginia and Maryland farms.  The Burro is a favorite of George Washington University students who flock there to eat the fish tacos and the burritos.

WASHINGTON, DC NIGHTLIFE

The nightlife in Washington DC is lively and varied, with concerts, plays, art galleries, bars and clubs to fit every mood.  The intimate Twins Jazz has jazz music with Ethiopian fare and Selam has great Eritrean food with one of the city’s most eclectic dance clubs downstairs on weekend nights.  The Nightclub 9:30 is located in an old gospel music hall which has been transformed into an alternative, progressive, rock and semi-punk club with several bars.  This enormous club hosts about 300 shows annually, including big name performers like R.E.M., Beastie Boys, and the Smashing Pumpkins.  The MCCXXIII Nightclub, also known as the 1223 Club, offers dance music and hip hop.  For rock and roll, check out the Bayou, Club Five, Johnny K’s, and more.
