ABOUT SAN DIEGO & SAN DIEGO APARTMENT RENTALS
Gorgeous beaches, the best weather in the U.S., and a world-class zoo are just a few of the features that make San Diego one of the most desirable places to live in the nation. Situated in the southwestern corner of California, adjacent to Mexico, San Diego is an international business and cultural center and a popular vacation getaway, with world-class universities, museums, parks, beaches, restaurants, shopping and nightlife.
SAN DIEGO ATTRACTIONS
San Diego’s attractions are legendary, from the stunning beaches that you can enjoy virtually year-round to the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in beautiful La Jolla. You can take day trips to Tijuana and Ensenada in Mexico, or visit the Gaslamp District downtown if you are a history buff or a fan of Victorian architecture. Or visit Old Town for some San Diego history.
For nature and outdoor activities, you can’t beat Mission Bay Park, with more than 4,500 acres of park, hiking and biking trails, or enjoy Mission Beach Boardwalk. How about a visit to the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista?
There’s also Balboa Park, with old Spanish Colonial revival architecture and 15 different museums, free concerts and fabulous gardens. Enjoy a 360 degree view of the city from Mt. Soledad in La Jolla or visit The Big Bay, with 27 miles of waterfront attractions, including marinas, restaurants, parks, and shops.
And no matter what time of year it is, San Diego has many seasonal attractions, ranging from the Adams Avenue Roots festival, with six stages of outdoor music, to “Woofstock”, a festival for dogs and people in Balboa Park. There is the America Cup Race Experience in April, the 7th Annual “Taste of Adams Avenue” festival in June, world-famous Sea World’s Holiday celebration in December, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March, and the 11th Annual 5 on 5 Block Party, on May 5th, Cinco De Mayo.
SAN DIEGO DINING
San Diego is on the ocean, so one thing you know it’s famous for is sea food. For upscale waterfront dining, try the 1500 Ocean Hotel Coronado in the famous Hotel Coronado, one of the world’s famous luxury hotels. Here you can dine indoors or outside on the oceanfront terrace and listen to live jazz. Or try Anthony’s, San Diego’s oldest seafood restaurant.
For margaritas and handmade tortillas try Casa Guadalajara or Casa De Pico. Or sample some of San Diego’s famed Italian cooking at Buca Di Beppa for real down home Southern Italian cooking, or Fillippi’s Pizza Grotto in Little Italy.
Then, for barbecue and soul food, there’s Kansas City Barbecue. The House of Blues has real southern style food that you can enjoy while you listen to some good blues music.
SAN DIEGO NIGHTLIFE
There are many great options for nighttime revelry in San Diego. Try Stingaree, a three story club with a 2000 person capacity, replete with a floor to ceiling waterfall, rooftop cabanas, and fire pits. Confidential is a trendy urban eatery with exposed brick walls, international tapas style food, and a DJ upstairs. The J Bar and Lounge is a hip rooftop bar with a lap pool that overlooks downtown San Diego. For something smaller scale, try Lime, an intimate Mexican inspired bar with great margaritas. If you want to kick back and enjoy some classic movies go to Cinema Under the Stars, an outdoor cinema.
