According to local legend, the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine can be found somewhere along the peaks of the Superstition Mountains. In fact, it's probably in or around Apache Junction. If you move to an apartment in this desert community, you might get a chance to locate this long lost mine. What a story to tell the grandkids! Even if you don't strike gold, you'll still have a chance to live in a city that's as good as gold when you move to an apartment in Apache Junction. According to local real estate ads, it's a whole lot easier to find a great apartment here than it is to find the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine. We recommend that you start with an apartment search and work your way up to a gold mine search.

A Spooky Town

There are plenty of people living in Apache Junction, but nearby Goldfield is for the ghosts. This town, which was founded in 1890, turned into a ghost town in the 1920s, after all the residents gave up the search for gold here and moved elsewhere. Like other ghost towns in the West, this one isn't spooky or haunted, it's simply abandoned. Today, many of the buildings are still in excellent condition, giving visitors the opportunity to explore a town that's literally been frozen in time. In fact, Goldfield has been transformed into a tourist destination, complete with costumed actors, shops that are full of authentic merchandise, and gunfights at high noon (performed by the actors, of course, not disgruntled gold miners). Whether you're into history or you just like a good show, you'll want to be sure to pay a visit to the Goldfield ghost town.

The Wetter Side of the Desert

Take a trip on the Dolly Steamboat and find yourself surrounded by the crystal clear waters of Canyon Lake. A trip like this is sure to refresh you and taking a boat ride in the middle of the Arizona Desert is the perfect way to see Apache Junction and the beautiful mountains that surround it. This really is a stunning part of the country to be able to call home.

Ride the Trails

Welcome to the Wild West! Apache Junction is home to the OK Corral Horseback Riding Stables. Whether you're a seasoned cowboy or a city slicker who's never actually seen a horse in person, you'll have a chance to ride one of these majestic animals all around the desert. Though most rides last just a few hours, if you're feeling extra-adventurous, you could head out for a 1-3 day horseback riding camping trip. One thing's for sure: you'll appreciate the comfort of your soft bed after a few days on a bumpy horse! Come join the adventure and rent an apartment in this fantastic city. You'll love the ride!"
