Annandale is chock-full of exciting outdoor activity. Hidden Oaks Nature Center is a comprehensive nature retreat within a large community park, featuring nature trail loops through the woodlands and an impressive collection of natural and cultural history exhibits. The Wakefield Park and Recreation Center offers local residents an array of athletic facilities including tennis courts, football fields, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields, as well as a playground and network of nature trails. Featuring a renovated 1760 farmhouse with surrounding trails and a peaceful duck pond, Green Spring Farm Park is a popular Annandale hiking and picnicking destination. The town's Newton W. Edwards Amphitheater boasts a series of outdoor concerts throughout the warmer months, as well as picnic facilities and a popular fitness trail.
A popular local shop (and hip hangout) in Annandale, Strangeland Records is an old-school record store, boasting an extensive collection of hard to find CDs and vinyl. Strangeland's staff is super helpful and knowledgeable, and the prices are always reasonable. They assert a "Listen before you buy" policy that allows customers to preview their selections before purchasing them. This local hotspot also serves as a gallery for local artists, showcasing artwork of all varieties, from photographs to sculptures. Strangeland even hosts its own popular events, with live music and barbequing on the shop's outdoor patio.
Antique Heisey Glass
Heisy Glass first began production in 1896. This exquisite crystal glassware is best known for the cuts and etching. The glass company ceased production in 1957, but collectors still seek new pieces. Cake plates, etched wine glasses, and decanters are among the favorites. Annadandale hosts ones of the largest collector shows each year in March. With an established theme each year, the show draws collectors and dealers from all over the country.
