Movies in the Park

Grab a blanket and head on down to Veterans Park this summer to enjoy a free movie under the stars. This fun movie series known as Movies in the Park is hosted by the City of Amsterdam throughout July and August. Each Saturday, the city shows a family-friendly movie right at dusk. All you need to do is bring a blanket or some lawn chairs. You can also feel free to pack a picnic with food and non-alcoholic drinks. So, get the family and come out to Movies in the Park and enjoy a film with all of your neighbors.

Farmers Markets

Farmers from all over New York bring their bounty to Amsterdam each year so that residents can enjoy fresh and local produce in their own kitchens. There are two separate farmers markets held in Amsterdam from June through October each year. The downtown market is held on Division Street and is open on Thursday mornings. The Sanford Stud Farm holds their farmers market on Wednesdays from in the evenings. Each of these markets is full of the freshest fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, and dairy around. Support your local farmers and come taste what they have to offer.

Riverlink Park

Along the banks of the Mohawk River is Amsterdam's beautiful Riverlink Park. This waterfront park has a large playground for children to play on throughout the summer. It also features a boat dock for those traveling down the river to take a quick break on land. The Riverlink Cafe, located within the park, is always serving up delicious food and drink as well. Riverlink Park is most known for its huge community-wide events, however. So, make sure to visit the park in the summer for Canal Fest, Fireworks in the Park, and the Summer Concert Series.
