A Tightly Knit Community
Amelia, Ohio is named for the wife of a toll keeper on the Ohio Turnpike, Amerlious (Amelia) Bodin. She was the one who normally operated the toll, so stagecoach drivers would shout her name when they arrived in town. This small Ohio village is a tightly knit community, so you’re bound to get to know most of your neighbors if you move to Amelia. Feel free to shout the village name as you cross into its borders!
Parks, Parks, Parks
When you’re looking to get outdoors and spend some time in that fresh, Ohio air, you’ll find plenty of places to do it. Amelia offers its residents some great parks including, Groh Park, Spencer Shank Park, and Arrowhead Pointe Park. With so much park space in this small village, there’s a good chance that you’re new apartment will be within walking distance of one of them. Groh Park, named for former Mayor Robert W. Groh, was the first park in Amelia’s Village Park system. This five acre wooded park offers a playground, picnic shelter, shaded walking trail, basketball court, and more. Take the kids to Arrowhead Pointe Park, which features some great playground equipment, including spring animals and slides. There are also picnic areas available as well. Spencer Shank Park has a picnic shelter, two basketball courts, a trail, and even a 9 hole Frisbee gold course, designed by the Greater Cincinnati Disc Golf Association. Bring Fido along to Spencer Shank Park and visit the Great Amelia Paw Park, Amelia’s very own dog park.
Get Smart
Amelia is smart on education. Want to know a good way to start a library? Ask your patrons to donate the books for you. That’s just what the Amelia Women’s Club did to start the first library in Amelia. Residents had to donate a book in order to become a member at what was called the Howland Library. While you don’t need to donate a book today, you can still become a member at Amelia’s present day library. Got some kids to educate in Amelia? Children attend Amelia Elementary, which is within village corporation limits. The West Clermont School District offers Amelia residents a middle and high school. There are also several private schools in the area, including St. Bernadette Elementary School and Preschool.

Is Amelia a good place for younger people?
With a population of about 3,500, Amelia is a village in Clermont County, Ohio. It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Amelia has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Compared to the rest of the country, the cost of living in Amelia is 10 percent cheaper than the US average, making it a good place for younger people on a budget.
