Frontier Day events includes activities like a shoot out performance by the Alvin Rotary Club Gunfighters, carnival rides, and a barbecue cook off. Additional celebrations in Alvin include the Hometown Festival, held over Labor Day weekend, and the annual Crawfest. Crawfest is a fundraiser held in National Oak Park that features arts, crafts, fun, and plenty of that delicious food.

Alvin’s Famous Son

Alvin can thank more than cattle ranchers and the Santa Fe Railroad for its unique place in history. Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan moved to the city in 1947 and lived here until 2003, making it the city’s biggest claim to fame.
