The city of Allentown has a long history, dating back to the time period of the Revolutionary War. Allentown is one of the state of Pennsylvania’s top five biggest cities, and it is also one of the top 225 largest cities in the entire country. As of the 2010 Census, almost 120,000 residents lived in Allentown, and the city’s metro area has 821,623 residents. Allentown is LeHigh County’s county seat, and is considered one of the major cities in Pennsylvania along with Philadephia and Pittsburgh.
The city of Allentown has quite a few choices for transportation. These choices include the LeHigh Valley International Airport, which provides flights across the world, as well as a public busing system, highways, and railroads. The Interstates 78, 81, and 476 serve the city, along with Pennsylvania State Route 309. The public bus system is provided by LANTA, which is county owned and provides several routes throughout LeHigh County.
