The Municipal Golf Course is a perfect addition to a city that loves the outdoors. This is a championship course with par-71 and par-72 tees, and is so quiet and relaxed you will never know you are in the heart of the city, thanks to its placement adjacent to Anderson Park, another of the community's most popular outdoor spots. Water traps at the Municipal Course keep you engaged, but the lack of sand traps prevents novice frustration levels from rising. Practice your swing, compete in a tournament, buy new gear at the pro shop, or grab a bite to eat at the Fairway Grill.

A strong 4A football team may draw the crowds to Alice High School on many Friday and Saturday nights in the fall, but the dynamic school, with its award-winning theater department and college-ready graduates, is grooming more than just great athletes. Students on the college track test well above average, and the city's cooperative programs with Coastal Bend College allows many students to begin their associate degrees even prior to graduating from high school. For the non-college bound or the more career-focused students, Alice High School also has a strong vocational program through the Coastal Bend Tech Prep Consortium.
Alice is not the most cosmopolitan in terms of culinary fare, but there are a few restaurants that really stand out. New York Joe's is the best pizza joint in town and also the home of the city's most authentic homemade pastas. For huge, flavorful portions of authentic South Valley fare, El Churros is the place. As you expect from the town's favorite family dining establishments, El Churros can get quiet crowded and noisy on occasion, so if you are in the mood for something a little more relaxed, check out Crossroads for the city's best barbecue.
