Calling all skaters, buds, and dudes alike: Veterans Skate Park is the place for skating down rails, bullnoses, and hubbas (those terms may not mean much to us non-skater folks but they sure sound cool.) This awesomely radical 15,000 square foot concrete skate park opened in 2006 and has become a hit with skateboarders all across the country.

Shopping in the Air

The Colonial Promenade Alabaster is an open-air shopping center that opened in 2005. The huge center is the largest in Shelby County and is a constantly happening place. From Wal-Mart and Bed Bath & Beyond to Old Navy, Radioshack, and Cold Stone Creamery, residents head to the promenade for all their shopping needs. There are also a variety of restaurants at the Promenade to choose from and the first-rate Amstar Movie Theater. So you can shop til you drop, fuel up on a good meal, and check out the latest flick. Your night is planned!

Festival Fetish

Alabaster sure knows how to throw a festival. Every year Alabaster throws one of the largest festivals in Shelby County. CityFest has not been around all that long (the festival started in 2003) but it has managed to become one of the most popular festivals in the area. Thousands of visitors head to CityFest to enjoy the main attraction: rocking live music. There are also rides, games, vendors, and special activities for kids like pony rides, special presentations, and arts and crafts. Alabaster residents look forward to this one all year round.

Christmas in Alabaster

One of Alabama’s largest Christmas parades takes place in Alabaster every year. It’s sponsored by the city’s Beautification Board and features a parade with over 100 beautifully decorated floats, vehicles, and trailers. Dance troops, horses, and Santa Claus himself are all a part of making this parade a resident favorite.

Birmingham, biggest city in Alabama

Alabaster residents love to take advantage of that big city access by enjoying what Birmingham, the biggest city in Alabama, has to offer. Catch a special screening at the historic Alabama Theatre, see your favorite bands at the Verizon Wireless Music Center, soak up some culture at the Birmingham Museum of Art, or visit the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.
