Green Meadow Waldorf

The very best in education is available to the families of Airmont thanks to the Green Meadow Waldorf School. The humanistic pedagogical style characteristic of Waldorf schools is evident at Green Meadow, where children are engaged in imaginative classes that pack a hefty academic load hidden under all the fun. The school covers grades from kindergarten through 12th grade, so children are taught to be creative and independent all through their educational career. The school has extracurricular and athletics programs to be sure that all students are well-rounded individuals, with options like tennis, community service programs, soccer, and cross country.

Tagaste Monastery

The Tagaste Monastery is a community of Augustinian Recollects, Catholic monks who have taken a vow to follow the monastic Rule of Saint Augustine. The monastery is named after the birthplace of Saint Augustine and serves as a formation house for new monks, the equivalent of a monastic seminary. Novice monks spend a minimum of six years at Tagaste learning the rhythm and discipline of monastic life as well as taking seminary classes. While monastic life involves a level of seclusion the monks always welcome visitors, and are happy to show them the monastery grounds or discuss finer points of doctrine.

Challenger Learning C

Any child would jump at the chance to go to space, and that is just what the Challenger Learning Center offers. The center is offers simulated flights to the moon, Mars, or a comet for visitors young and old, with a mission to teach about science through the wonder of space flight. The interactive learning provided by the center allows a team of visitors to perform the same tasks as astronauts and their teammates at Mission Control, teaching everyone how to work as a team while promoting science literacy. The center was built as a memorial to the astronauts who died in the Challenger disaster.
