Moving across town isn’t easy, and moving across state or even across country can be down right daunting. But before you can get to the packing part you have to ask yourself, is it the right time to Relocate? Below we have a few tips on knowing when it’s the right time to move.
Are you single? Do you have kids? A special partner in life? What about your friends and support circle, including co-workers and community leaders? When ever you decided relocate you’re bound to lose a few close relationships, but don’t let that discourage you – tight relationships will last beyond city boundaries. If you feel like moving will give you more relationships then it’s likely a good time to move.
A great time to relocate is if you plan on leaving your job. If you plan far enough ahead you can secure a job in your new city and save money for the move. This will undoubtedly be the most adventitious scenario. If you are looking for a new job you can see average rents and income, as well as a bunch of other statistics on our City Pages.
This one should be a no-brainer. If you’ve just graduated, or if you’re trying to go back to school – move. If you’re a graduate find a city that you can get a job in and go there. And if you’re a future student you’re likely going to be getting some kind of financial aid so use that opportunity to go to a school that is in a new city.
