Swiss Army Apartment (Deluxe Version)
A few months ago, we ran a story about the Casulo, a new innovation for apartment rentals living designed for the extremely mobile renter. We were so enthralled, that we found a video and set some music to the demonstration to aid marketing efforts.
The Matroshka is cut from the same cloth as the Casulo, but is a bit larger and has more tricks up its sleeve. Whereas the Casulo, could provide for a bedroom, the Matroshka can pretty much fully furnish studio apartments.
This is rather ideal for renters on the move, college students, or studio apartment dweller, and is particularly suited for renters who have small apartments in New York. The Matroshka can be set up easily, and configured into myriad permutations to accommodate the varied needs of the lone renter.
The concept for this innovation in apartment furnishing was developed by thinking of the available space for furniture in 3 dimensions, rather than simply floor space.
By thinking in terms of volume, not area, the designers were able to use levels that collapse and open into storage and hidden compartments to maximize utility and space.
Want to host a dinner party in your studio apartment? NO PROBLEM. It’s not really that big of a deal when your dinner table turns into a corner sofa and then your bed.

After a busy day running around the city, coming back to your apartment should be a relaxing experience, a quiet refuge, like entering Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. Sometimes, however, a studio apartment can undermine the quality of your apartment as a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city, because it is so constrained, both in space and functionality.
Matroshka apartment living, by utilizing space and multi-functionality certainly spices up a studio apartment, where space is at a premium.
Instead of seeing the exact same setup every time you come back to your apartment, you can change it around as much as you like.
What do the studio apartment renters out there think? Would this work for you?
