New Home Page and Search and Mapping Improvements
You'll notice today that we have re-designed our home page. Your told us that our old home page did not clearly state what we were about and how the process works. Since no one reads much text, we took a slightly more graphical approach.
We've also made some improvements to search and mapping from your feedback:
- Omit the Comma between City and State When Entering a Search: When entering a city and state into the search box, you can omit the comma. Our search box now understands that a space between the city and state is still a valid city–except when the state name is two words (e.g. North Dakota). We're still working on that one–no offense to those of you who live in two words states. Also, you can add a period after the two letter state abbreviation, and we will still understand that it's a state. Please keep the feedback coming about how you enter your searches. We will continue to adapt to your needs.
- Mouse Over Search Results Highlights the Corresponding Pin on the Map: To make it easier to locate apartments on the map, you can now roll your mouse over the list of search results, and the pin corresponding to that apartment will grow bigger on the map. We did this because “Find on Map" was one of the most clicked links on our site! Thanks for all of the positive feedback on the mapping. Now, we hope you find it more usable.
- Improvements to Sign In: When you Sign In to your account, we will now remember who you are for more than a few hours. In fact, we will remember who you are by default every time you come back–just like Amazon.com (well, from the same computer anyway–if you switch computers, you will have to Sign In again–but only once.)
Please keep the awesome feedback coming. We read and respond to every one: feedback@mynewplace.com.
