About Schenectady, NY


Schenectady is located in eastern New York, and is the county seat of Schenectady County. The city has a population of over 66,135, as of the 2010 census. Schenectady is located near the state’s capital of Albany, and is also geographically close to both the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. The city’s name actually comes from a Native American saying, which means “near the pines”.
