About Independence, MO

Independence is one of the largest cities in the state of Missouri and it is also the county seat of Jackson County. Strangely enough, a small part of the city also is located in Clay County, although Independence is legally recognized as part of Jackson County. Also known as the “Queen City of Trails,” Independence is the home of former President Harry Truman and his Presidential library is housed there. The city had 116,830 people as of 2010.
